Way of the Hunter 2 PC requirements: CPU, GPU, RAM for minimum and recommended. The Steam page and the official FAQ list different DX and storage numbers.
Way of the Hunter 2 System Requirements: Steam Page and FAQ Disagree
Both official answers agree on the hardware and disagree on two numbers. Minimum and recommended CPU, GPU and RAM are identical wherever you read them: Ryzen 5 3600X / Core i5-9600K with an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT for minimum, Ryzen 5 7600X / Core i5-14600K with an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 7600 XT for recommended, and 16 GB of RAM at both tiers. The divergence is DirectX on the minimum spec (Steam says Version 12, the developer's FAQ says Version 11) and storage on both tiers (Steam says 38 GB, the FAQ says 30 GB). Plan for the larger Steam numbers: 38 GB of disk and treat DirectX 12 as the floor.
Both pages were read on 2026-10-03, four days after version 1.0 shipped on 2026-09-29 and two days after the Update 1.1 patch.

What the Steam store page lists
This is the table Steam itself renders on the Way of the Hunter 2 store page, pulled from the same pc_requirements field the storefront uses at purchase time.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 | Windows 11 |
| Processor | Ryzen 5 3600X / Core i5-9600K | Ryzen 5 7600X / Core i5-14600K |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5600 XT | GeForce RTX 4060 Ti / Radeon RX 7600 XT |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 38 GB available space | 38 GB available space |
Both rows also carry a line the table often gets dropped in summaries: "Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system." Windows 11 is the only listed operating system, and the Steam app record has windows: true with mac: false and linux: false — there is no Mac or Linux build to install these specs into.
What the developer's FAQ lists
Nine Rocks Games publishes its own answer under the heading "What are the final hardware requirements?" on the official FAQ page. CPU, RAM, GPU and OS match Steam line for line. The DirectX and storage lines do not.
| Component | FAQ minimum | FAQ recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Ryzen 5 3600X / Core i5-9600K | Ryzen 5 7600X / Core i5-14600K |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5600 XT | GeForce RTX 4060 Ti / Radeon RX 7600 XT |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 30 GB available space | 30 GB available space |
"Performance optimization remains an ongoing process as we approach Version 1.0, so these requirements may still be adjusted if necessary."
Official source: Way of the Hunter 2: FAQ
Note what that sentence assumes: the FAQ still frames itself as pre-launch, four days after launch. That is a leftover, not a live warning.
The two disagreements, side by side
| Field | Steam store page | Developer FAQ | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| DirectX, minimum | Version 12 | Version 11 | One full API generation |
| DirectX, recommended | Version 12 | Version 12 | None |
| Storage, minimum | 38 GB | 30 GB | 8 GB |
| Storage, recommended | 38 GB | 30 GB | 8 GB |
| CPU, both tiers | 3600X / 9600K, 7600X / 14600K | Identical | None |
| RAM, both tiers | 16 GB | 16 GB | None |
| GPU, both tiers | 2060 / 5600 XT, 4060 Ti / 7600 XT | Identical | None |
The 8 GB gap is not a rounding difference, and a drive that clears 30 GB of free space but not 38 GB will not have the headroom the store page assumes. Clear 40 GB before installing. Neither official page publishes a VRAM figure for either tier, so card memory has to be judged from the GPU model itself.
Is the "requirements may change" line still true?
It has been on the developer's page since Early Access, and the numbers next to it have not moved. The older FAQ, still live at ninerocksgames.com/posts/faq, carries the same 30 GB and DirectX 11 minimum alongside a blunter version of the same caveat: "the hardware requirements may change during the Early Access period." Early Access ended on 2026-09-29, and as of 2026-10-03 neither the store page nor the current FAQ has been revised — the 38 GB / DirectX 12 pair is still what Steam serves, and the 30 GB / DirectX 11 pair is still what the developer publishes.
What did change is the patch cadence, not the spec sheet. Update 1.1 (Version 212672, 2026-10-01) is the first post-launch patch, and the developer has said patches will come at increased frequency in the first weeks after release. See what it actually changed in the Update 1.1 breakdown: a long-term weather forecast, inverted look options, left-stick menu navigation and a higher default look deadzone. None of it touches the requirements.
Third-party storefronts are the reason this page exists at all. Retail listings that scraped the Steam spec block during Early Access are still serving the old caveat verbatim — a Green Man Gaming product page, for instance, shows "Requirements are subject to change during Early Access" directly above a recommended spec list that has been final since launch, as indexed in search results on 2026-10-03. No official source carries that sentence any more.
What the recommended spec is actually buying
The engine is the reason these numbers sit where they do. Way of the Hunter 2 runs on Unreal Engine 5.7, and the developer names the two UE5 systems it uses: Nanite for dense geometry such as foliage and trees, and Lumen for dynamic global illumination across the whole day-night cycle. Both are expensive to render, and both scale with resolution.
| Graphics feature | Status | Source wording |
|---|---|---|
| DLSS 4.5 | Supported | "the game supports DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4" |
| FSR 4 | Supported | Same line |
| Frame Generation | Supported | "Frame Generation is also available" |
| Resolution scaling | Supported | "along with resolution scaling and multiple quality presets" |
| Ultrawide monitors | Supported | "Yes. Ultrawide monitors are supported." |
| Motion blur / film grain toggles | Not planned | "We don't currently have specific graphics customization additions planned" |
| Mods | Not supported | "No. Mod support is not planned at this time" |
With Nanite foliage and Lumen lighting in the frame, the cheapest frame rate comes from DLSS 4.5 or FSR 4 rather than from dropping a texture preset. Note the developer says nothing about disabling motion blur or film grain, so do not plan a build around removing them. Thermal and night vision views are a separate rendering path from daylight, so treat any frame-rate target that assumes them as unverified until you test it — they are covered in the weapons and ammo guide.
Community testing predates launch and is unverified, but it is the only performance data that exists. A mid-2026 r/WayOfTheHunter thread reports roughly 150 fps with frame generation on an RTX 5060 Ti, with input latency named as the complaint rather than frame rate. Treat that as one machine, one configuration, not a benchmark.
Steam Deck is not supported, and the FAQ says why
Steam Deck is not on the official support list, and the developer is unusually direct about it.
"The game can technically be launched and played on Steam Deck, but Steam Deck is not officially planned to be supported at this time. Running the game via Steam Deck may require manual configuration or workarounds that have not been thoroughly tested by us. Performance and gameplay are not optimized for Steam Deck, so players may encounter issues that would not normally occur on a PC meeting the minimum system requirements."
Official source: Way of the Hunter 2: FAQ
The Steam store page carries bSteamDeck: false. If you are deciding between a handheld and a desktop, the full picture — including what "technically playable" actually means in practice — is in the Steam Deck page.
Two limits that surprise people, and they are not hardware
Controller layouts cannot be remapped. The FAQ is a single sentence: "Keyboard and mouse controls can be customized. Controller layouts are not customizable." If you are used to rebinding triggers or paddles on a gamepad, that is not available here. Update 1.1 raised the default inner-look deadzone to 12 and added inverted look options, which is the closest thing to controller tuning in the launch build; better haptics and adaptive triggers remain planned. Console-versus-PC feature differences are broken out in the Xbox, PS5 and PC comparison.
Mods are not an upgrade path. With no mod support planned, a machine that struggles cannot be rescued by moving geometry to a user-defined config.
If the resolution menu looks wrong after you install
The most common post-install graphics complaint is not a hardware failure. Leftover files from the Demo — which was available during the Early Access period — corrupt the resolution list, UI scaling and on-screen particles. The developer published a fix:
- Close the game.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Paste
%LocalAppData%\WOTH2\Saved. - Delete the
Configfolder only. Do not delete your save files. - Relaunch; new config files generate automatically.
If that does not clear it, the developer routes bug reports through THQ Nordic's Redmine tracker, and wants your save files, platform, and purchase details attached. The wider bug picture is in known issues and how to report them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my PC run Way of the Hunter 2? If you are on Windows 11 with a 64-bit processor and have a Ryzen 5 3600X or Core i5-9600K, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT, you clear the published minimum. No other PC configuration is published as supported, and there is no Mac or Linux build.
Do I need 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM? 16 GB, at both minimum and recommended. Neither official source lists 32 GB anywhere.
Is DirectX 11 or 12 required? The Steam store page requires Version 12 for both tiers; the developer FAQ lists Version 11 as the minimum and Version 12 as recommended. If you are choosing, treat Version 12 as the floor.
How much disk space do I need? Steam says 38 GB available space for both tiers; the FAQ says 30 GB. Free up 40 GB and the question stops mattering.
Does it support ultrawide monitors? Yes, the developer confirms ultrawide support directly, alongside DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, resolution scaling, multiple quality presets and frame generation.
Can I play on Steam Deck? It can be launched, but Steam Deck is not officially planned to be supported, performance and gameplay are not optimized for it, and workarounds have not been tested by the developer.
Will the requirements change now that 1.0 has shipped? The disclaimer says they may still be adjusted, and the FAQ still uses pre-launch wording. In practice nothing has changed since launch as of 2026-10-03, and the Steam and FAQ numbers still disagree with each other.
