What this site covers
Way of the Hunter 2 is a realistic hunting simulation developed by Nine Rocks Games and published by THQ Nordic, built around first-person shooting, animal tracking and a trophy and loot economy. It entered Steam Early Access on 26 March 2026 and left it on 29 September 2026 with its 1.0 release. It plays on PC (Steam and GOG), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This wiki collects practical reference material for that game: where to hunt and what to carry, how the economy works, how specific weapons and animals behave, and what changed in the 1.0 release and the patches around it.
A note on the first game
Way of the Hunter 2 is the follow-up to Way of the Hunter, the original hunting simulator, which released on 16 August 2022 and was later expanded with Way of the Hunter: Aurora Shores in February 2023. The two titles share a name and a genre but are not the same product: they have their own maps, economies, mechanics and patch histories. Anything written on this site about "Way of the Hunter 2" applies to the 2026 title unless a page explicitly says it is about the original game or its Aurora Shores expansion.
How guides are made
Every guide is written from play and cross-checked against more than one source. When a claim depends on a number that the game itself does not display, the source is named in the page and the guide is dated. Patch notes and the official Nine Rocks Games FAQ are treated as the authority on version-specific facts; where a guide and the official source disagree, the official source wins and the guide gets corrected.
Nothing here is a substitute for playing the game. Hunting is a simulated activity and the real-world safety, licensing and conservation rules of your region apply to the outdoors regardless of what is described in a guide.
